The Position We are looking for an experienced full stack software engineer willing to take the challenge to support MARSS in this new phase and passionate about being able to develop products end-to-end. The successful candidate will take ownership of the existing code base and will lead the product development by: contributing to strategic and technical decisions; making architectural and tooling choices; building and expanding the software team from scratch. But, as we are looking for someone bringing 3+ years of experience, we would expect your background to be aligned with the main qualifications below.

Essential Qualifications

Python 2 and 3 Asynchronous programming (asyncio) Frontend (JavaScript, React) Sockets/Networking GIT Comfortable in Linux environments Additional Qualifications C/C++ unit testing tools network and message based interfaces based for instance on Sockets, Websockets and REST APIs Serial Interfaces Video Processing (GStreamer / Janus / WebRTC) Frontend (HTML5/JS) System Security, Cryptography Machine Learning DevOps tools such as Ansible, Packer Bring your own technologies! Personal projects and passions Education We prefer at least bachelors degree level in a science or engineering discipline. Masters or doctorate advantageous. Integration and interfacing Our core activity is maritime safety and security applications. We're bringing the latest web technologies to real-world hardware i.e. we don't just work in the cloud. We interface with very diverse equipment: radar, sonar, thermal imaging, software-defined radios and more. Our UI, based on standard web-technologies, runs on touchscreen displays and tablets. Challenges If you are looking for an easy job, this isn't it. We operate in mission critical environments. Our systems can operate at sea and high security areas with limited connectivity to the data center. So, all your assumptions about cloud development techniques and operating environments will be constantly challenged. Timelines are strict, and creativity is often required to solve unexpected technical issues. It can be extremely diverse, interesting and rewarding if you are up to the challenge.
