About the Role

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer will work with our customer and extended Harman team to resolve quality issues resulting from design and/or manufacturing discrepancies. Work with multifunctional teams (Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Field Service) to drive resolution for product complaints. Flawless launch responsibility overall quality performance of the product we deliver to our customers.

What You Will Do

  • Responsible for field containment and rework activities at customer locations, such as product diagnostic tests, assembly line investigations and assembly plant yard-hold management.
  • Support and maintain policies and practices related to manufacturing support of 0km issues at customer assembly plants and quality situations related to product application in vehicles.
  • Analyze, compile, review and regularly report customer quality metrics such as PPM for 0km performance. Prepare presentations from quality data for reviews by both Harman and customer management groups.
  • Obtain customer approvals for manufacturing process change(s) by providing supporting data for the change(s) and submitting to customer in their required format.
  • Lead problem analysis and improvement efforts by applying the use of modern quality tools such as FMEA, 8D, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing principles and Six-Sigma methodologies.
  • Ensure information flow related to customer returns to appropriately address design (hardware and software), manufacturing, packaging and logistics causes. Facilitate awareness of issues and deploy countermeasures as lessons learned (Yokoten).
  • Liaison between Customer and Harman. Coordinates activities of internal and external resources. Serves as resource for problem solving by initiating actions to address issues and prevent potential quality problems.
  • Assist internal and external contacts to resolve product and process problems. Investigate and solve manufacturing-related problems.
  • Continuous communication with design and engineering team during early and launch stages and also leader for Root Cause analysis and PCAs for Launch issues and SOP+90.
  • Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure transfer to Production of new products are in accordance with approved data.
  • Assure customer specific requirements are implemented.
  • Perform Ppk – Cpk studies.
  • PPAP or any other customer approval documentation for new products.
  • Continuous updating customers portals according to requirements.
  • Safe lunch Plan coordination activities.
  • PSO coordination activities.
  • Champion continuous improvement efforts. Researches, recommends, implements and administers new and/or existing quality assurance processes.
  • Complete other projects and activities as assigned.
  • Participates and provides support related with quality systems management, objectives, targets and programs.

What You Need To Be Successful

  • Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree, with a preference for Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in Customer Quality in Automotive Industry T1.
  • Knowledge of the principles and procedures related to Manufacturing Quality Engineering, electronic & mechanical manufacturing, statistical process control (SPC), problem solving and automotive production part approval process (PPAP).
  • Certifications in: DFSS Green/Black Belt, Red X (Shainin Journeyman), Kepner Tregoe.
  • Problem Solving Expert.
  • Must have 2+ years experience using AIAG guidelines (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA).
  • Practical problem solving using: 8D, A3, Fault Tree Analysis, Pareto, 3L-5Y, Is-Is Not, Fish Bone, etc.
  • English 90%.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experienced presenter.
  • Customer specific requirements (applicable).

Bonus Points if You Have

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
  • Manufacturing discipline.
  • Electronics Knowledge.
  • IATF 16949 Experience/Certificate.

. VDA 6.3 Experience/Certificate.

  • Certifications/Licenses: ASQ, CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt.
  • Ability to specify, develop and operate specialized equipment used for product analysis.
  • Strong computer background with ability to calculate and analyze data, generate reports.

  • For Customer Toyota

o Knowledge of Customer Specifics Requirements that includes: SQAM, SKPI, QIMS, A3 Reports, PCR

  • For Customer Subaru

o Knowledge of Customer Specifics Requirements that includes: Customer Portal, A3 Reports, PCR, PRC,

  • For Customer Kia/Hyundai

o Knowledge of Customer Specifics Requirements that includes: Customer Portal, ISIR, VATZ, 2 Panel – 3 Panel, 4Ms

  • For Customer BMW

o Knowledge of Customer Specifics Requirements that includes: Customer Portal B2B, LPKM, PPM, 8D, IPQ, Part Quality and Production

  • For Mercedes

o Knowledge of Customer Specifics Requirements that includes: Daimler Supplier Portal, Argus, Certus, DocMaster, PIA, SQMS, START . Experience on Power BI (Business Intelligence) and AI (Artificial Intelligence)
