Our client is a global leader in the energy sector, focused on developing and implementing innovative solutions for a sustainable future. We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Process Engineer with expertise in Chemical Manufacturing to join our fully remote engineering division. This senior role is vital for optimizing existing chemical processes, designing new manufacturing methodologies, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles, extensive experience in process design and scale-up, and a passion for driving technological advancements. This is a remote-first position, allowing you to contribute significantly to critical projects from anywhere in the US. Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and optimization of chemical manufacturing processes for (Specify area, e.g., specialty chemicals, petrochemicals, biofuels). Conduct process simulations, mass and energy balance calculations, and equipment sizing. Develop PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams) and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams). Ensure processes meet stringent safety, environmental, and quality standards. Troubleshoot complex operational issues and implement effective solutions. Oversee process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement recommendations. Collaborate with R&D, operations, and project management teams to ensure seamless process integration and scale-up. Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve process efficiency, yield, and sustainability. Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provide technical training to operational staff. Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices in chemical engineering and manufacturing. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in process engineering, with a strong focus on chemical manufacturing. Proven expertise in process design, simulation (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS), and scale-up. Deep understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer, and reaction kinetics. Experience with process safety management (PSM) and hazard analysis techniques. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong leadership and communication abilities, with the capacity to mentor junior engineers. Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, remote environment. Proficiency in CAD and process simulation software. Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API).
