Billing Coordinator- (California Remote)

POSITION SUMMARY: The Billing Coordinator performs a variety of routine and non-routine moderately complex billing functions to ensure the proper preparation of accurate and timely bills to customers based on service contract terms and other related activities. The incumbent typically entails responsibility for customer accounts with complex billing arrangements due to contractual or statutory requirements. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Researches and resolves routine billing questions and discrepancies; escalates as needed. Following standard operating procedures, determines the appropriate adjustment codes to process the transaction.
• Prepares monthly billing adjustments, obtains required approvals, and enters adjustments into the billing system.
• Calculates and prepares basic manual billings for non-complex billing arrangements.
• Gathers and summarizes supplemental billing information to accommodate customer billing requirements.
• Provides limited contact with customers to assist with researching billing questions and providing copies of the support documentation.
• Reviews invoices for completeness and accuracy. Follows up with customers or other division staff/management to resolve identified discrepancies.
• Executes and manages large-scale updates to customer billing information, including rate adjustments, service plan changes, and pricing modifications across multiple accounts, ensuring accuracy, compliance with contractual agreements, and minimal disruption to ongoing billing cycle.
• Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to check accuracy and spot errors in billing information.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a high-volume environment.
• Willingness to learn and assist in resolving simple billing issues and discrepancies.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to identify issues and make necessary corrections efficiently.
• Ability to positively interact with customers in supporting billing inquiry research.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365: Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
• Familiarity with enterprise billing software.
• Understanding of billing processes, invoices, and common resolution steps.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• 2 - 4 years of experience in customer billing including processing adjustments and researching and resolving discrepancies.

Pay Range: The pay range for this position is $20.35 to $28.00* which reflects the minimum wage in multiple jurisdictions. The actual range will depend on the locality in which you are hired.
