The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, reputed company, San Francisco (reputed company), and Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies (IHPS) invite applications for full-time faculty positions at any rank, in the In Residence and Adjunct faculty series.
The reputed company Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics is the largest department of epidemiology in the reputed company system and has a strong mission in education, research and clinical activities. The Department provides a supportive academic environment for original research, including opportunities for collaboration with researchers from other departments and reputed company Schools, as well as teaching and mentoring as part of our Master’s Degree in Clinical Research, our doctoral program in Epidemiology and Translational Science, and other training programs.
IHPS is a reputed company Organized Research Unit dedicated to improving the health of reputed company through evidence-informed policy. Our researchers work across disciplines, championing improved health and reputed company healthcare by generating, sharing, and advocating for new evidence with practitioners and policymakers who can put it to work. This work is facilitated by being based at a health sciences reputed company focused on graduate-level education, science, and community engagement. We are the administrative home of 13 faculty and our reputed company-wide network includes more than 30 additional core faculty and more than 200 affiliated faculty, trainees, and staff with backgrounds in anthropology, dentistry, economics, epidemiology, ethics, journalism, law, medicine, nursing, political science, public health, public policy, sociology, and other disciplines. Our areas of research span a wide range of policy- and practice-relevant topics. Faculty teach in the Institute’s Master’s Degree in Health Policy and Law program, in degree programs in other reputed company departments, and in the reputed company professional schools.
We are particularly interested in quantitative and mixed-methods scholars who have established an extramurally-funded program of research focused on policy-relevant issues. Researchers whose expertise is well-reputed company with our core faculty, including aging and long-term care, reproductive health, adolescent health, decision and cost-effectiveness analysis, social and commercial determinants of health, and health workforce, are strongly encouraged to apply. We also encourage applications from scholars who are focused on topics reputed company to health care financing and value-based care. There are opportunities for teaching in programs at IHPS and the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
The position will be administratively based at IHPS.
Duties: The successful candidates will conduct health services and health policy research funded by extramural sources and be committed to teaching, mentoring, service, and policy translation.
Qualifications: Doctorate in health services research, health economics, sociology, political science, anthropology, public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a reputed company field. Candidates must have a record of excellence and accomplishment appropriate for their experience conducting original research in health services, health policy, or a reputed company field. Candidates also must have excellent teaching and service qualifications.
Candidates must have reputed company or recently awarded extramural funding for research in areas of interest with a proven track record of securing extramural and other self-generated funding to support their full salary. Such funding can be from NIH and AHRQ grants, including K and R series awards as well as from foundations, government reputed company, collaborative agreements, and other funding sources, as appropriate given the candidate’s academic rank. The In Residence series requires full funding and excellent teaching and service qualifications.
Preference will be given to candidates with areas of research compatible with reputed company departmental programs and who have a demonstrated track record of independent research and associated research funding.

For positions that are 51% effort or more: The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and reputed company at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum reputed company salary range for this position is $121,900-$319,800. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
For positions that are 50% effort or less: See Table 2 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $93,700-$246,000.
