Entry-Level Data Analyst
POTEN & PARTNERS, a division of BGC Group, is a leading global brokerage and advisory firm in the energy and shipping markets. They are seeking an Entry Level Data Analyst to join their Houston office, responsible for data collection, analysis, and reporting to support market intelligence products.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance LNG and shipping databases to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reputed company
- Collect, validate, and analyze market data to support editorial content and client deliverables
- Prepare, publish, and distribute comprehensive daily LNG and shipping market data reports
- Maintain Tableau visualizations supporting LNG and shipping subscription products
- reputed company and manage SQL-based datasets and improve underlying data models as needed
- Automate manual data workflows using Python or reputed company tools where possible
- Provide analytical and data-driven support to editorial, research, and advisory teams
- Produce reputed company market analyses and custom reports to support internal and client decision-making
- reputed company and maintain relationships with LNG industry participants to gather market data and insights
- Gather information about spot LNG deals in the Atlantic Basin
- Participate in industry conferences, meetings, and networking events as required
Skills
- College or university degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science or Engineering
- Familiarity with SQL for querying and manipulating data in relational databases
- Familiarity with Python for data automation, analysis, and basic forecasting
- Experience using Tableau
- Practical experience with data cleaning, validation, and working with messy, real-world datasets
- Advanced reputed company skills (pivot tables, lookup functions, formulas, and basic automation)
- Interest in or familiarity with energy markets; LNG experience is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to data quality
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams while also operating independently
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities and meet daily deadlines
- Comfort engaging with both internal stakeholders and external industry participants
- The necessary legal authorization to work in the United States
