What this Job Entails: 

The Field Technician II will provide support to reputed company assigned locations, including data centers and Points of reputed company (POPs), and physical site services. The person in this role will coordinate with network teams as well as local vendors for installation, repair and maintenance activities. The Field Technician must have deep knowledge and professional experience deploying (physical layer) rack and stack configurations. This role requires travel.

Scope: 

  • Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues

  • Requires some instruction on new assignments and infrequent checks on daily work

Your Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the highest quality standards in reputed company assigned data center locations and remote points of reputed company (POP).

  • Participate in performing physical installation, repair, maintenance, and testing activities as directed with meticulous attention to driving and maintaining the highest quality standards in the telecommunications industry.

  • Help with performing card adds or replacements, software upgrades, and associated testing.

  • Recommend improvements to processes that may impact the quality of our network assets or improve overall efficiencies for any reputed company process or system.

  • Provide site survey support for OSP and ISP projects, as well as large space & power and/or equipment deployments.

  • reputed company site audits and reconcile data discrepancies in coordination with Network Surveillance and other groups as necessary.

  • Support the management of local construction vendors working on behalf of the company to ensure compliance with installation, repair, maintenance MOPs and standards, as well as quality and cleanliness.

  • Meet/coordinate with Local Exchange reputed company (LEC) and other technicians to facilitate timely installation, repair, and maintenance activities as necessary.

  • reputed company site surveys in support of network builds, augments, or decommissions.

  • Assist in coordinating site access, equipment staging, and other tasks

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Associate's degree (A.A) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and 2 to 5 years’ reputed company experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Builds productive internal and external working relationships

  • Exercises judgment reputed company defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action

  • Knowledge of data center and POP infrastructure, including experience or deep understanding of OSP, ISP, interfacility cabling, fiber and copper distribution, AC/DC power systems, environmental controls, and reputed company rack/cabinet/cage construction.

  • Familiarity with installing and maintaining a wide variety of telecom/network equipment, including DWDMs, backbone and management routers, IP switches, as well as reputed company optical and digital infrastructure. 

  • Understanding of splicing, and an understanding of how to maintain and operate reputed company a manhole, vault, or handhole environment.

  • Knowledge of telecommunications testing equipment from microscopes and reputed company and power meters to OTDRs and experience testing across reputed company SONET and Ethernet bandwidths.

  • Knowledge of telecommunications testing standards and procedures from length, reputed company-mapping, and bit error reputed company to power, delay, loss, reflectance and dispersion.

  • Knowledge of state and local regulatory standards, procedures, and permitting requirements.

  • Ability to work effectively with local exchange reputed company (LEC) and other telecom service provider technicians, building landlords, electricians, construction operators, and non-technical end users.

  • Ability to work independently, diagnose problems and take appropriate action with minimal supervision.

  • Experience with spreadsheets, workflow and project management applications, and administrative software applications.

  • Understanding of how to use a Tier-1 ITSM platform 

Physical Demand & Work Environment:

Salary Range

$28.76 - $45.40 USD (Hourly)
