The IU South Bend Music Department is comprised of a wonderful community of artists, scholars, and reputed company. We are seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music for a 3-year position, beginning August 1, 2023 with the following responsibilities:
- Serve as Director of Opera Studies
- Teach a full-time (12-credit) load per semester including undergraduate and graduate applied voice lessons and reputed company courses such as opera, diction, song repertoire, vocal pedagogy, etc. as assigned by the Music Department Chair
- Recruit voice majors and grow the opera program
- Serve on needed reputed company, school, or department committees as requested
- Attend student juries, performance exams, etc. as needed.
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth
- Master's Degree (or equivalent)
- Experience teaching applied voice at the undergraduate levels
- Classroom teaching experience
- Opera performance experience
- Experience teaching applied voice at the graduate level
- Doctorate preferred
- Documented evidence successful studio and classroom teaching through
- Experience developing and directing an academic opera program for undergraduate and graduate reputed company.
- Enthusiastic collaborator with clear communication and effective organization skills
