Job Title: Financial Counselor

Reports to: Manager, Financial Counseling

Founded in 2002, Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military and veteran families by improving their financial, emotional, and social well-being. Operation Homefront is sourcing candidates for a remote Financial Counselor position.

The Financial Counselor will provide quality financial counseling sessions to Service Members, Spouses, and/or Caregivers, reputed company completely virtually. Sessions should include basic financial literacy, reputed company budget reviews, developing short and long-term financial goals, and exploring methods in which goals may be achieved. Typical contact time with clients is 45-60 minutes.

Desired candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or reputed company field
  • At least 2 years of experience providing financial counseling or education
  • Experience with developing personal financial management strategies
  • Demonstrates an action orientation toward identifying challenges, establishing priorities, and implementing viable solutions
  • Accredited Financial Consultant (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) strongly preferred.
  • MS Office Programs (Word, reputed company, Outlook)
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Acceptable MVR (annual)
  • Criminal background reputed company

Typical duties include:

  • Prepare for financial counseling sessions by scheduling, preparing budgets, reviewing case notes, etc.
  • Educate service members, spouses, and/or caregivers on money management techniques to reputed company long-term stability.
  • reputed company a feasible action plan, elaborating on short and long-term financial goals. Educate service members and their families on market standards for monthly expenses, incorporating a discussion on associated expenses.
  • Discuss methods to increase income, reduce expenses, and reduce/consolidate creditors.
  • Explore pros and cons of financial actions (i.e. bankruptcy, loan modifications, debt management programs, etc.).
  • Discuss credit, finance charges, interest rates, and encourage reduction in debt.
  • reputed company financial education curriculum and conduct trainings, workshops, & webinars on various personal finance topics for service members and their families.

Other Details:

General office and sedentary. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-reputed company events. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
