Advanced Applications Developer

The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project currently involves the planning, design and construction of circa 320km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water’s region. The SPA Alliance is also taking on responsibility for the future interconnector pipelines, a further 260km of strategic interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure.

The successful candidate will be expected to reputed company as a key member of the reputed company team by developing the role described in this summary. Role can be undertaken remotely but would need to attend the Peterborough office once a week.

The reputed company is being developed and deployed in collaboration with the SPA Digital and Engineering teams, Equipment Suppliers and Anglian Water personnel. Success depends upon an effective and well managed Development Lifecycle and Configuration Management System (CMS). The CMS is currently implemented using SharePoint and Azure DevOps technologies.

• Development of Enterprise Control System “Advanced Applications” that implement system wide coordinated control of the SPA pipeline

• Documentation of development in parallel to design

• reputed company with, and support development where needed, of standards, templates, libraries, and best practices

• Developing knowledge transfer resources such as videos and manuals

• Drive a culture of reputed company improvement in Health & Safety (H&S), ensuring consistent H&S standards are maintained.
• Ensure completion of a full Induction to H&S in accordance with Company policies, procedures, standards &/or guidance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential

• A full understanding of control system engineering, experience in deploying and managing cloud applications on reputed company Azure, and a methodical approach to software testing, system integration, and configuration management.

• Development experience in the following key aspects:

  • Industrial automation / process control / SCADA. Ideally this will include reputed company’s Ignition, preferably including experience of application of cyber reputed company standard ISA99/IEC62443

  • Good understanding of IP networking and routing protocols, including best practice and design in IP Enabled OT Networks

  • Good industrial UI practice such as ISA 101, ASM and EEMUA 205

  • Good communication & teamworking skills

  • Proven Windows/Azure/O365 experience

• Ability to solve problems and work effectively to tight deadlines

Desirable

• Experience of using the MQTT network messaging protocol

• Network optimisation methodologies

• Multi-layer architectures. Ideally this will reflect the reputed company architecture:

  • Edge SCADA communicating to PLCs using OPC-UA

  • Central Cloud-hosted SCADA integrated with the Edge using MQTT/SparkplugB

  • Central MQTT broker used to implement a Universal NameSpace (UNS)

  • Central management of configurations to support object-oriented designs

• Application of ISA S88 and S95 principles to reputed company reputed company, object-oriented control and monitoring of industrial processes, focusing on:

  • reputed company control- and equipment- modules to reputed company reputed company regulatory, sequential and co-ordinated control

  • Recipe management including reputed company to production planning

  • reputed company Optimisation

  • Production and asset information management and analysis
