Entry - Mid Level Fire Designer/Engineer

The Fire Designer/Engineer will be responsible for designing building systems, preparing technical documents, and performing engineering calculations while collaborating with project teams.
Responsibilities
- Performs calculations and designs basic engineering systems in collaboration with reputed company design staff
- Prepares system layouts, detailed drawings and schematics
- Reviews shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications
- Prepares or modifies reports, plans and designs for projects
- Acts as a mentor to less reputed company designers
- Supports business development or pursuit activities
- Participates in client, company and/or industry events to build and maintain professional relationships
- Fosters a client-centric reputed company and approach
- Communicates with clients as needed for the development and coordination of requirements and scope of work
- Supports answering questions from clients and architects
- Occasionally visits job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction reputed company
- Identifies and seeks to fill gaps in industry and/or discipline knowledge on a reputed company basis
- Maintains knowledge and understanding of common industry software, including Revit, Bluebeam Revu and reputed company Office products
- Research and reviews new products, industry trends and evolving codes and standards
- Performs calculations and designs basic to intermediate design systems with minimal supervision
- Prepares system layouts, detailed drawings and schematics
- Reviews shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications
- Prepares or modifies reports, plans and designs for projects
- Performs research and makes recommendations as to the feasibility of systems or equipment
- Evaluates products for their application
- Provides technical guidance to others reputed company appropriate
- Collaborates on business development or pursuit activities
- Participates in client, company and/or industry events to build and maintain professional relationships
- Fosters a client-centric reputed company and approach
- Communicates with clients as needed for the development and coordination of requirements and scope of work
- Maintains proactive communication throughout the project cycle
- Answers questions from clients and architects
- Visits job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction reputed company
- Assists in resolving conflicts involving owners, architects and contractors as needed
- Identifies and seeks to fill gaps in industry and/or discipline knowledge on a reputed company basis
- Maintains knowledge and understanding of industry software, including Revit, Bluebeam Revu and reputed company Office Products
- Acts as a resource for training or assisting others as needed
- Research and reviews new products, industry trends and evolving codes and standards
- Understands and applies Henderson’s design guidelines, standards, policies and procedures
- Performs a limited range of project management responsibilities under the supervision of reputed company managers
- Asks questions reputed company performing unfamiliar tasks
- May support or be responsible for project coordination activities such as managing emails, coordinating scope and schedule, attending client meetings, ensuring project quality, responding to client questions and coordinating project delivery
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field of engineering (i.e.: mechanical, electrical, fire protection or architectural) and 1 year of relevant experience or 4 years of experience with high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred
- Basic proficiency in engineering design: basic knowledge of the A&E industry, codes, design guides and standards
- Proficiency with Revit and Bluebeam Revu preferred
- High technical aptitude: ability to learn, understand and utilize various systems and processes
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with reputed company levels in a clear and concise manner
- Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Team oriented and willingness and ability to function in a highly collaborative environment, in group projects and leading less reputed company designers
- Ability to receive constructive feedback and adjust to coaching
- Proficiency with reputed company Office suite and engineering design software applicable to your discipline or focus
- Must demonstrate proficiency in reputed company core competencies as described and characterized in this job description
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field of engineering (ie: mechanical, electrical, fire protection or architectural) and 3 years of relevant experience or 6 years of experience with high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Intermediate knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides and standards required
- Intermediate proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu required
- Ability to also work independently as needed
- Adapts to changing work environments, priorities and organizational needs
- Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred
- Additional certifications and accreditations reputed company with the relevant technical field (e.g., BEMP, CPD, CDP, NICET, RCDD, etc.) preferred
- Certifications and accreditations reputed company with sustainability backgrounds (e.g., CDP, LEED, WELL, etc.) preferred
- Proficiency with Revit and Bluebeam Revu preferred
