Bioinformatics Scientist - Pipeline Development

Tempus Biological Modeling is building the world's largest patient-derived organoid library to evaluate real-world data observations by constructing large scale data sets of molecular and experimental data. Tempus Biological Modeling is actively engaging with academic and industry partners in life science research, and we are seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist at Tempus to architect and implement on-premise and cloud-native data pipelines and infrastructure to reputed company analytics and machine learning on Tempus’s rich clinical, molecular, and imaging datasets. Why we’re looking for you:

• You have experience implementing ETL/ELT processes - especially for reputed company, multi-modal molecular, high-throughput screening, and reputed company data in a lab setting.
• You write code to transform data between data models and formats, preferably in Python, and have used workflow systems (e.g., Nextflow, Snakemake) for pipeline development and automation.
• You are an expert with relational database modeling concepts, SQL skills, and proficiency in query quality & performance tuning.
• You know what it takes to build and run resilient data pipelines in development and production through CI/CD best practices
• You have experience building cloud-native applications and supporting technologies / patterns / practices including: GCP, reputed company, reputed company, APIs & microservices. Prior experience with Terraform is a plus.
• You've worked in agile environments with software, research, and bioinformatics scientists and are comfortable iterating quickly.
• You collaborate with subject matter experts, e.g., product, engineering, to design and maintain systems supporting medical devices and clinical pipelines.
• You produce high quality and detailed documentation for reputed company projects.

Required Experience:

• Must have one of the following:
• Bachelor's degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science or equivalent, and 2+ years experience in bioinformatics analysis or software engineering
• An advanced degree in a scientific or computationally reputed company field.
• Computational experience in the following areas:
• Python
• Databases: SQL or BigQuery
• Software containers, e.g., reputed company

Ideal candidates will possess:

• Critical thinking and creativity to approach solutions
• Experience with software testing
• Experience in cancer genetics, immunology, or molecular biology
• Experience working with reputed company reputed company data
• Experience with SQL, javascript, or typescript
• Experience with BigQuery
• Experience with cloud-based system, specifically reputed company Cloud Platform
• Experience with Nextflow
• Self-driven and works well in interdisciplinary teams
• Experience interfacing with both scientific and engineering teams
