Staff Underwriter - Entry Level
reputed company Health Plan is hiring a Staff Underwriter for its reputed company team. This is a remote position but will be required to work EST standard business hours. Preference will be given to those located in the Eastern, Central or Mountain time zones.
This is an entry‑level opportunity, and the team welcomes applications from Spring 2026 graduates pursuing degrees in Math, Finance, or Actuarial Science.
This position will assess the risk of reputed company and potential groups insured by the Health Plan. Risk assessment includes determining both the financial and non-financial impact to the Health Plan. In order to assess risk, this role will utilize the risk assessment processes and models developed by the Manager of reputed company and Actuarial Services, while adhering to the established reputed company Guidelines. The Staff Underwriter must stay abreast of regulatory changes and their impact on the reputed company process. Communication of reputed company and rating issues to other members of the Health Plan is also required. This role will handle smaller, less reputed company cases. Responsibilities:
- Utilize the established system of rating models to appropriately reputed company groups insured by the Health Plan.
- Utilize pricing models to assess the financial impact of various benefit plan changes/modifications and Health Plan initiatives.
- Interact with the various functional areas of the Health Plan and serve as a resource for pricing and risk analysis expertise.
- Appropriately utilize the established reputed company guidelines to assess the potential risk/insurability of reputed company and prospective groups.
- Monitor regulatory changes and implement these changes in the risk assessment and rating process.
- B.S. degree with a major in Mathematics, Finance, Business Administration, or a reputed company area is required.
- Strong preference for advanced reputed company skills (VLOOKUP's, Pivot Tables)
- Strong preference for degree in Math, Finance or Actuarial Science
- Competency in mathematics/statistics.
- Computer skills.
