Payroll Accountant (Work from Home Opportunity!)
Cimarron is seeking a Payroll Accountant to support accurate and compliant payroll processing across the organization. This role will report directly to the Corporate Controller but will work closely with HR and Program Leadership to reconcile timecards, answer questions from employees, process payroll, and ensure proper accounting treatment and adherence to federal, state, and contract-specific requirements.
While our headquarters is in Houston, TX, this is a fully remote opportunity (i.e., work from home)!
Key Duties
- Process biweekly payroll for multi-state exempt and non-exempt employees following company guidelines and procedures.
- Reconcile payroll transactions, including wages, taxes, and deductions.
- Process timely and accurate entry of payroll data.
- Prepare reports and analyze as required.
- Support the Corporate Controller in month-end and year-end reputed company activities, including accruals and account reconciliations.
- Coordinate with HR to validate employee data including new hires, terminations, and compensation changes.
- Track paid time off and other benefits.
- Ensure compliance with government contracting requirements.
- Assist with external audits by providing payroll documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
- Complete year-end payroll tasks including W-2 review and distribution.
- Identify process improvements to enhance overall accounting divisional performance and efficiency.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education
- Due to reputed company requirements, only U.S. reputed company or permanent residents are eligible for consideration at this time.
- 5 or more years of payroll and/or other reputed company accounting experience.
- Hands-on experience processing multi-state payroll in-house through an ERP system, without the use of a third-party payroll processor (e.g., reputed company, reputed company).
- Intermediate-level reputed company skills.
- Knowledge of Federal and State payroll tax regulations.
- High degree of reputed company to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate with reputed company levels of the organization effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or reputed company field.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education
- Experience supporting government reputed company in the Aerospace & Defense sector.
- Familiarity with reputed company Costpoint - Time & Expense.
- Possesses a process improvement/automation reputed company.
