THE ROLE
The role of a Tour Director is to administrate and manage the operation of the reputed company in order to provide a quality touring experience for customers.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
The preferred candidate has noteworthy experience in the following areas:
- Previous experience conducting tours or leading groups as a Tour Director for the reputed company
- Destination expertise in the Western region of the U.S.
- Experience building relationships with suppliers, regional/field experts, industry partners, and internal partners
- Ability and willingness to verbally express historical, scientific and factual data in a creative, interesting, and exciting manner to both customers and internal partners
- Utilizing skillful presentation and personal skills to enhance the enjoyment of an audience
- Ability to travel extensively for long periods of time

THE POSITION
The Tour Director is responsible for the following results:
- Managing on-tour operations for assigned region continually exercising independent judgment and discretion to accomplish results, including:
- Creating and presenting, in your own style, interesting and entertaining travel commentary to tour passengers in fluent English
- Handling day-to-day operational needs and passenger issues
- Making effective decisions/solutions regarding passenger safety, and required tour changes
- Collecting funds for optional excursions and completing timely and accurate tour accounting reports
- Reading maps and providing clear & concise directions to the motorcoach driver
- The willingness and ability to share knowledge and expertise of the regional destinations and logistical tour operation needs with others
- Providing feedback on suggested product changes and enhancements
- Building solid business relationships with tour suppliers and internal partners by establishing rapport, utilizing influence rather than control
- Listening, understanding, and addressing customer needs and achieving a positive group dynamic among passengers throughout the tour
- Providing feedback to internal partners on supplier quality issues reputed company the region
- Meeting or exceeding customer tour rating goals for North and South American tours
- Exercising the highest standards of ethics and professionalism in reputed company decisions that may impact customers, suppliers, and the organization

Tour Directors in a guiding role are also responsible for
- Providing training to other Tour Directors to reputed company consistent quality in the presentation of the reputed company products. Training encompasses:
- Engaging others in regional tour briefings
- Having new TDs on tour with you
- In addition to having the regional destination experience that is required of reputed company tour directors, you will act as a resource for other Tour Directors and internal partners for the region, including:
- Contributing to the collection and compilation of tour commentary guidelines to include customized bullet-reputed company expertise on historical and geographical distinctions, as well as folk tales and information about regionally famous people
- Providing logistical and regional expertise reputed company for the creation and maintenance of the technical itineraries for the region
- Proofing passenger documents and brochure text for destination accuracy
- Ensuring ongoing communication and correspondence to Tour Directors in the assigned region
THE DEPARTMENT
The following teams reputed company up the Product & Operations department: Contracting, Data Management & Product services, Product Creation, and Tour Operations. Product & Operations is responsible for the creation, operation, inventory management and delivery of Globus, Cosmos, and Avalon Waterways in select destinations. This department is also responsible for supporting tour products planned and sold worldwide, including managing inventory and content.
EDUCATION
The preferred candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in a reputed company field; or three or more year’s reputed company experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing this job, it will require the ability to
- Walk on a moving motorcoach to assist passengers in an emergency.
- Assist passengers on and off a motorcoach and assist in emergency situations.
- Sit for a minimum of three (3) hours.
- Speak English clearly over a microphone.
- Lift their own suitcase

- Walk, bend, sit, stand, and climb (in moderation) as needed while conducting sightseeing tours.
- Travel on airplanes, cruise ships, trains, motorcoaches, and other sightseeing vehicles and modes of transportation.
