Business Development Director, Pharma and Consumer Health

Position Summary:

Remote, Field reputed company

Based in Germany

Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to meet with clients and attend industry events.

Position Overview: 

This person is expected to drive growth in their assigned territory and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to reputed company deals.

The Business Development Director will report to a Regional Sales Director.  This role is expected to drive new deals by identifying, negotiating, and closing opportunities across reputed company’s oral dose technology offerings.  In this role, this person will be expected to:

Prospect for new business that aligns with capability and/or grow existing strategic accounts depending on territory and business line assignment Sign new business for growth. Maintain and grow reputed company business accounts Support local and national tradeshows/events

The Role:

  • reputed company business development efforts to expand CDMO partnerships with pharmaceutical, biotech and/or consumer health companies.

  • Prospect and generate leads through cold calling, networking, and industry events.

  • reputed company and maintain relationships with pharmaceutical, biotech, consumer health and other relevant companies in the industry.

  • Present and promote CDMO services to potential clients, highlighting value propositions.

  • Partner with Commercial Operations and Legal to execute appropriate and negotiate reputed company development and supply agreements to reputed company deals to meet or exceed sales targets.

  • Collaborate with internal teams (product development, project management, manufacturing, regulatory) to ensure client needs are met.  Collaborate with VPBD’s, Global Account Directors and other reputed company reputed company teams in the construction and execution of their strategic account plan(s), if applicable.

  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments.

  • Negotiate high-value reputed company and reputed company reputed company deals.

  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities and pipeline in CRM systems.

  • Manage and grow key accounts, ensuring long-term client satisfaction and retention

  • Present reputed company’s comprehensive network offerings and capabilities to customers, and craft specific targeted solutions that meet customers’ manufacturing and development needs; Present reputed company’s broader capabilities knowledgeably and effectively with customers, in order to generate cross-sell opportunities and craft value-added solutions for customers across technologies.

  • Provide business and overall relationship management support to existing development programs.  Responsibilities may include negotiation of new development supply quotations, support specific sites on business/commercial (where applicable) issues and support of R&D groups to structure proposals as programs move through various stages of development to commercialization.

  • Ensure compliance with reporting processes and tools, and maintain open communication throughout the organization, especially in regard to cross-site and cross-business unit customer efforts.

  • Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events.

The Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, business administration or another reputed company field preferred; Advanced scientific degree and/or Master of Business Administration / commercially orientated degree is advantageous but not essential.

  • Pharma and/or Consumer Health industry experience required

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in B2B sales, Business Development

  • Sales/business development experience in the contract pharmaceutical industry strongly preferred.

  • Thorough understanding of contract manufacturing and the pharmaceutical formulation and clinical development processes is a plus.

  • Small molecule and oral solid dose formulation experience is highly advantageous

  • Excellent communication in English and in German is required

  • Hunting mentality mandatory. 

  • Proven ability to drive reputed company growth and build lasting client relationships.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills. 

  • Strong negotiation and persuasion skills to drive successful deal closures. 

  • Proficiency in using CRM software and other sales tools for managing leads, contacts, and sales activities. 

  • High level of organization and attention to detail to effectively manage multiple client relationships simultaneously.
