Associate Medical Director, Med-Psych
About the role:
reputed company Med-Psych Associate Medical Directors (AMDs) are key clinical leaders supporting patients and care teams across our Standard and reputed company Care models. You will work with health advocates, physicians, nurses, behavioral health clinicians, and pharmacists to deliver coordinated, whole-person care for patients with reputed company medical, behavioral, and social needs.
As a Med-Psych AMD, you will clinically supervise Med-Psych and Psych APCs and their care pods in partnership with APC Managers, the National Director of Integrated Behavioral Health, and BH Managers. You will also provide virtual mental and physical health care reputed company video, phone, and text.
In reputed company Model, you will reputed company integrated behavioral health services for patients with mild to moderate mental health and substance use needs, using the evidence-based Collaborative Care Model. You will act as the psychiatric consultant, supported by Med-Psych APCs and behavioral health clinicians, and collaborate with primary care and APCs to deliver patient-centered, measurement-based, treatment-to-reputed company care. You will also supervise med-psychiatric APCs providing e-consults for diagnostic clarity and medication management.
In the High-Risk Advanced Behavioral Health Model, you will provide direct and consultative care for a small panel of patients with serious mental illness and/or severe substance use disorders. You will supervise and support Med-Psychiatric APCs delivering both primary medical and behavioral health care, ensuring multidisciplinary care plans that reduce avoidable utilization and increase patients’ healthy days at home.

Responsibilities will include:
Clinical Supervision and reputed company for Collaborative Care and reputed company Care Programs
Serve as the psychiatric consultant for Psych APCs and Behavioral Health Clinicians (LCSWs/LPCs) reputed company the Collaborative Care and reputed company Care models, including clinical supervision and participation in BH Case Conferences
Provide psychiatric diagnostic evaluations for select BH referrals
reputed company evidence-based medication management for a full range of DSM-5 conditions, including prescribing controlled substances per the Collaborative Practice Agreement
Partner with the BH Manager and psychiatric APCs to ensure effective panel management, timely follow-reputed company, treatment-to-reputed company adjustments, and safe program graduation
Support urgent behavioral health triage as needed
Ensure timely, accurate documentation and coordinate with external PCPs and psychiatrists to align treatment plans
Clinical Supervision and reputed company for High-Risk Advanced Behavioral Health Program
Conduct in-depth chart reviews and data analysis to ensure:
Appropriate clinical care plans addressing root causes of avoidable IP/ED utilization and total cost of care
Accurate diagnosis, coding, and evidence-based treatment reputed company with AH guidelines
Completion of preventive care and closure of HEDIS quality gaps through orders, reputed company, and patient education
Regularly review high-risk patients and recent IP/ED utilizers to optimize care plans and reduce avoidable utilization
Ensure creation and maintenance of reputed company Care Plans for highest-needs patients in partnership with BH leadership
Review daily escalations from Med-Psych APCs and APC Managers regarding urgent clinical concerns, diagnoses, and quality gaps
Collaborate with external psychiatrists, PCPs, specialists, and inpatient teams to maintain reputed company, patient-centered care plans
Identify improvement opportunities and coach Med-Psych APCs on clinical care and panel management through observation, documentation review, and huddles
Partner with APC Managers on hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training of clinical team members
Contribute to educational content development and strengthen relationships/workflows with network providers and community partners
Clinical Care and Delivery
Provide direct medical and psychiatric care for patients in the reputed company and Advanced Behavioral Health programs
Deliver indirect care through BH Case Conferences and treatment recommendations to APCs
Provide visit coverage for APCs as needed
For completed visits, ensure appropriate ordering and follow-up of labs/imaging, and maintain timely, accurate documentation across EMR and internal platforms
Participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule, including weekends and holidays
Clinical Design and Innovation

Desired skills and experience:
Required
MD or DO in Psychiatry with dual Board Certification in Psychiatry and Internal Medicine / Family Medicine
Fellowship in consult liaison Psychiatry a plus
Fellowship/additional training or experience in addiction medicine a plus
Comfort and experience in managing both psychiatric and medical needs for patients
Active Medical License in state of employment and willingness to obtain additional licensure as requested
Experience building and leading multi-disciplinary teams, supervising clinical team members, and have held leadership and/or administrative roles in clinical organizations or other innovative care models
Experience with change management and process improvement theory, techniques and practical application
Experience using a metrics-driven approach to analyze cost, quality, and satisfaction data to drive clinical strategy and program redesign
Comfort with working in an electronic medical record
Valid unrestricted driver's license and access to an insured vehicle for daily use
Preferred
3+ years in an outpatient mental health practice and/or primary care setting
Experience / additional training in Collaborative Care models
Experience supervising Advanced Practice Clinicians
Experience working in value-based care setting and/or managed care, including how to appropriately assess STARS/HEDIS measures, accurately and appropriately diagnose and code clinical comorbidities, and identify clinical care gaps
