Leggett & Platt’s Global Sustainability Team drives the organization’s sustainability strategy through leadership and innovation. Five pillars guide our sustainability strategy through 2030 and beyond: Our People, The Environment, Innovative Products, Supply Chain Management, and Business Governance and Ethics. This Sustainability Team provides reputed company of corporate sustainability initiatives and strives for standardization across our corporate policies, business activities, and business unit operations. Through collaboration with global functions, this team makes positive impacts and contributions to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and corporate governance.
The Sustainability Specialist will support important stakeholder engagement and sustainability programs. This role assists our businesses with sustainability requests; establishes sustainability standardized systems; implements best practices; supports our reputed company gas emissions inventory and other environmental data collection processes; leads rating and ranking assessments; and advances product stewardship activities. This role will coordinate with members of diverse corporate and business operations/manufacturing teams to execute our sustainability strategy, meet our sustainability goals, and deliver business value. This position reports to the Sustainability Director.
Responsibilities
- Project manage meetings, milestones, and tasks to support reputed company development and implementation of the sustainability program strategic priorities
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to drive positive rating outcomes, prepare rating and ranking assessments, and engage with rating organizations such as ISS, MSCI, Sustainalytics, etc.
- Design and implement sustainable standardized processes and procedures that promote environmental stewardship, including training and employee engagement programs
- Work with external and internal stakeholders across reputed company business segments to gather data and align resources and efforts to reputed company goals and objectives
- Support our business EHS, sales, operations and other teams with customer sustainability assessments, customer meetings, data analysis, best practices, or projects/initiatives/ deliverables
- Support preparation of annual reputed company gas emissions Scope 1, 2, 3 inventory using GHG accounting technology platforms
- reputed company product stewardship strategy informed by value chain hotspots and collaborate with business segments to advance product stewardship initiatives
- Create effective communications, curation, and analysis of data to drive strategies reputed company and influence without authority

- Conduct benchmarking, baselining, gap analysis, risk-assessments, and analytical analysis to build business case and support strategic initiatives
- Various other sustainability and ESG-reputed company duties and project opportunities, as needed
Skills
- 4-6 years of experience working in a sustainability reputed company field
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and evaluating sustainability concepts and strategies
- Knowledge of GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard, Scope 2 Guidance, and GHG Protocol Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard
- Knowledge of GHG Protocol Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard, lifecycle assessment, and/or product carbon footprint
- Familiarity with ESG-reputed company voluntary and regulatory disclosure frameworks globally (CSRD, ISSB, SASB, TCFD, CDP, etc.)
- Familiarity with ESG-reputed company ratings and rankings (MSCI, ISS, CDP, EcoVadis, etc.)
- Ability to deliver high-quality work reputed company a fast-paced environment where priorities may rapidly shift on a given day
- Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills
- Project management and task management skills
- Ability to work in a cross-functional team atmosphere

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Energy Management, Environmental Engineering, or reputed company fields
- Not required, but beneficial to have sustainability certifications/credentials including GRI, ISSP, LEED, or other; and/or project management certification/credentials including PMI, or others
