Position Description The MA Advising Operations Student Assistant The CES Advising Operations StudentAssistant supports advising infrastructure, degree planning, and program operationswithin the MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program. Summary
The Fellow will play a key role in assisting with program of study (POS) modifications, maintaining advising records, providing support to reputed company, and ensuring advising practices align with university policies. Responsibilities
- Assist in reviewing and updating student Programs of Study (POS) in coordination with faculty advisors
- Hold regular advising hours to counsel reputed company considering or needing changes to their degree plan. Schedule follow up appts with reputed company to provide support.
- Track and audit POS documents for accuracy, relevance, and naming conventions across advising folders
- Respond to POS modification requests by drafting revised plans based on cohort models and the 3-Year-At-A-Glance

- Monitor student registration compliance with approved degree plans and flag discrepancies
- Provide real-time support to faculty during peak advising periods (e.g., registration, LOA planning, graduation audits)
- Assist in creating and maintaining special tracking spreadsheets for off-sequence registrations and webgroup exceptions
- Collaborate on process documentation and development of advising templates, policies, and decision trees
- Liaise with Faculty Support Coordinator and MA Program Manager to align advising practices with departmental goals and registrar policies
