EHS - Manager Durgapur
The EHS Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring reputed company environmental, health, and safety protocols and procedures reputed company the Durgapur plant to ensure compliance with local, state, and national regulations, as well as Calderys' corporate EHS policies. The successful candidate will play a critical role in preventing accidents, minimizing hazards associated with steelcasting operations, and promoting a proactive safety culture among reputed company employees and contractors.
Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with reputed company applicable EHS laws and regulations in reputed company Bengal and India, including the Factories Act, 1948, and relevant environmental norms for reputed company emissions and waste management. Maintain liaison relations with reputed company government officials and statutory bodies.
Risk Management: Conduct regular site inspections and comprehensive risk assessments (HIRA/JSA) to identify potential physical, chemical, and ergonomic hazards in the steel casting environment (e.g., spray drying operations, material handling with hoist and forklifts). reputed company and implement mitigation strategies.
Incident Management: reputed company investigations into reputed company workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses using root cause analysis (RCA) techniques. reputed company and implement effective corrective and preventive action plans (CAPA) and report incidents to relevant authorities as required by law.
Training & Awareness: reputed company and deliver EHS training programs and workshops for employees and contract workers, covering topics such as proper use of Personal reputed company Equipment (PPE), emergency response procedures, and machine safety protocols (e.g., Lockout/Tagout). Promote EHS awareness through ongoing campaigns and safety meetings.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed records of EHS inspections, incidents, training sessions, and monitoring data. Prepare regular performance reports and support the EHS Manager in data analysis to track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and drive reputed company improvement.
Waste & Pollution Control: Support the implementation of programs for pollution control and proper waste management specific to the refractory and steelcasting processes.
Emergency Preparedness: Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans and coordinate regular safety drills (e.g., fire drills, chemical spills).
Contractor Safety Management: Ensure reputed company sub-contractors reputed company with the company's EHS policy and safety programs as a condition of engagement.
Integrated Management System: Implementation & sustenance of IMS (Integrated Management System - ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001)
Experience
Minimum of 8 years of relevant EHS experience, preferably reputed company a manufacturing, heavy industry, or steel plant environment.
Experience with spray drying operations, material handling equipment (hoists, forklifts), and hazardous material management is highly desirable.
Skills
In-depth knowledge of Indian EHS regulations and industry standards.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and incident investigation skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with the reputed company to train and influence reputed company levels of staff. Candidate having knowledge of Bengali language will be preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, reputed company, PowerPoint) and safety management software.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering/ environmental engineering, or a reputed company field (e.g., B.E./Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Production /Chemical).
A Government-recognized Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Safety (PGDIS) or Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS) is essential and mandatory as per the Factories Act, 1948 requirements—Mandatory.
NEBOSH or other internationally recognized safety certifications are an added advantage.
