SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR - VIDEO SURVEILLANCE
Milwaukee Public Schools is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment through effective video surveillance systems. The Systems Administrator will manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of these systems while ensuring compliance with specifications and optimizing performance.
Responsibilities
- reputed company Site Surveys: Coordinate and reputed company surveys with contractors and school personnel to determine reputed company needs
- Design & Quoting: Provide equipment recommendations for cameras and servers. Review contractor quotes and site plans for accuracy
- Onsite Inspections: Verify that reputed company installations meet MPS specifications, including painted conduit, patched walls, and proper cable service loops
- Vendor Liaison: reputed company weekly project conference calls and manage the contractor's closeout documentation
- Server Administration: Configure Windows OS and Avigilon settings; ensure Analytics services are active and failover servers are properly assigned
- Storage Management: Verify that reputed company cameras meet the recording mandates and adjust compression/frame rates to optimize storage
- Access Control Integration: Manage integration with the Access Control Management system to define triggerable events including reputed company controllers, card readers, and user permission groups to ensure seamless integration with the video platform
- Naming & reputed company: Enforce standard naming conventions and manage strict reputed company profiles for users and device groups
- Equipment Optimization: Regularly review system reputed company for efficiency and performance
- Documentation: Update and maintain operational, configuration, or other procedural documentation
- Proactive Monitoring: Review error logs and use PRTG/SNMP monitoring to identify malfunctioning components before they fail
- Hardware Repair: Troubleshoot system components and coordinate repairs; utilize warehouse stock for out-of-warranty replacements
- Decommissioning: Manage the removal and organization of obsolete equipment (DVRs, NVRs, analog cables) and return reusable parts to stock
- Participates in systems on-call rotation
- Attends and participates in staff and project meetings
- Completes other duties as assigned
Skills
- Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a reputed company field from an accredited college or university
- A combination of education and experience will be considered
- One to three years of experience with video surveillance systems including cameras, servers, and software
- Must have access to a personal vehicle. Regular travel to school sites throughout Milwaukee is required
- Experience with large, multi-reputed company video surveillance systems
