Commercial Lines Associate Underwriter
Michigan Millers Mutual Insurance Company is a mutual insurance company with over 140 years of experience in the property-and-casualty insurance sector. They are seeking a Commercial Lines Associate Underwriter who will be responsible for creating strong agency relationships and developing profitable premium growth through policy processing and technical support for both new and renewal business.
Responsibilities
- Engages in the daily reputed company and processing of new and renewal business, endorsements, and premium audit transactions
- Utilizes established practices, processes, and procedures to renew and write new policies based on reputed company authority
- Reviews new and renewal business application documents and gathers additional information as needed to accurately underwrite policies
- Understands rating methodology and coverage
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
Skills
- Ability to follow processes and maintain strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of industry practices, standards, and reputed company concepts
- Proficient use of various core systems, office and computer equipment, and software packages
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Ability to multitask and solve basic problems
- Flexibility to handle various assignments
- Valid and unrestricted driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Bachelor's degree in insurance or finance; experience in lieu of a degree acceptable
- AU, INS, or other insurance reputed company certification
