The Undergraduate Consultant serves as an important team member in the Learning Commons. He/she works under the supervision of the administrative staff and works closely with the other Writing Consultants to tutor reputed company on a daily basis. Tutoring sessions occur as both face-to-face and online consultations. The Undergraduate Consultant also performs some clerical work and assists the professional staff with resource development and other special projects. Position Summary The Undergraduate Writing Consultant should:

• Be aware of and able to use a variety of strategies to work with a diverse clientele whose writing skills cover a wide range of ability

• Provide a forum for participatory learning, which includes the active involvement of the student.

• Completed ENGL 1313 (Composition I) and ENGL 1323 (Composition II) or equivalent courses and passed courses with an A or B.

• Possess intermediate to advanced level of knowledge in English composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
