Job title: Tutor Certified (Part-Time) Company: The Beaufort County School District Job description: POSITION PURPOSE: Beaufort County School District seeks certified persons to serve as tutors. To provide intensive and extensive tutorial services for identified students to develop successful academic skills. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provides academic assistance to assigned students, either in a group setting or one-on-one, as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Collaborates with the classroom teacher to assess selected students and develop effective methods of tutorial service delivery.
• Maintains records on each tutored student, including follow-up and periodic evaluation of progress.
• Assists students in achieving a better understanding of specific subject material and helps them develop study skills necessary for academic success.
• Helps students develop a positive attitude, a high level of motivation and self-confidence in academic work, serves as a role model for students being served.
• Assists in designing and implementing cooperative group projects as needed.
• Attends periodic training sessions to enhance competency in tutoring.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent. QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a valid teaching certificate or proof of retirement from teaching.

EXPERIENCE:

• Prior tutorial experience preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of children.
• Ability to work with others.
• Willingness to follow directions.
• Ability to handle unforeseen situations in accordance with Board Policy.
• Ability to accept individual differences among children.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented.
