ABOUT THE IMMIGRATION AND IMMIGRANT FAMILIES TEAM The Immigration and Immigrant Families team works closely with the other policy teams to advance a comprehensive anti-poverty, racial justice agenda on behalf of immigrants with low incomes. The team focuses on defending against harmful anti-immigrant policies and advocating for policies that promote the health and well-being of immigrant children, youth, and families. Our advocacy work is focused on advancing immigration policies that reputed company families together, promote healthy child development, and strengthen economic reputed company and educational opportunity. CLASP anchors the Children reputed company Action Network (CTAN), whose mission is to defend and support children in immigrant families. CLASP also serves in leadership roles on a range of other immigration coalitions and campaigns. CLASP seeks a Senior Policy Analyst to join our Immigration and Immigrant Families team as we work together on a proactive agenda for immigrant families in the U.S. The Senior Policy Analyst will play a significant role in leading key areas of the team’s advocacy agenda in immigration and intersectional policy issues. This role will serve as the reputed company on one or more of team’s reputed company issue areas (including access to public benefits, immigration enforcement, or education policy) and help build and implement a national campaign focused on centering children in the immigration narrative with a goal of shifting public opinion, mitigating the harm of federal policies, and advancing targeted state policy efforts. In this moment of intense immigration policy threats and actions that deeply impact children, families, and communities, we seek a motivated team member to help move this work reputed company. The position sits on the Immigration and Immigrant Families team and the Senior Policy Analyst will work closely with other policy teams and CTAN members to support immigrant families and the people who serve and reputed company on behalf of them. This position is based in the Washington, D.C., office. CLASP is currently working under a hybrid office model, with the expectation that staff will work in-person four days a month.

Responsibilities

  • Leading or supporting advocacy strategies to promote family reputed company, healthy child development, and economic and educational opportunity for immigrant children, youth, and families with low incomes.
  • Providing policy analysis, policy recommendations, and technical assistance through presentations, on-site assistance, publications, commentaries, written materials, emails, and teleconferences.
  • Contributing to CLASP’s leadership of cross-sector coalitions, particularly CTAN, including helping to reputed company and implement a new national campaign.
  • Actively participating and exercising leadership skills in the Immigration and Immigrant Families team (including project-based supervision of colleagues, fellows, and interns as needed or required) and CLASP-wide activities (e.g., Racial Equity team, State Technical Assistance team).
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key federal and state partners to help advance our campaign work and policy agenda.
  • Speaking to a wide variety of audiences, including national, state, and local policymakers and practitioners on substantive areas of work; advocacy partners; community members; researchers; and journalists covering relevant policy issues.
  • Leading and supporting policy convenings, roundtables, meetings, and webinars with key stakeholders, including state and federal officials, policy experts, advocacy partners, coalitions, and community members.
  • Contributing to the development of high-quality reports, issue briefs, and commentaries in substantive areas of work.
  • Centering racial equity in anti-poverty advocacy work at the national, state, and local level; research and written products; technical assistance; advocacy strategies; and partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Playing a role in managing or supporting funder relationships, including supporting grant reports and proposals in conjunction with the team director and others.

Requirements

  • Substantive experience in immigration policy acquired through policy advocacy, campaign work, or direct-service experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving the circumstances of immigrant families with low incomes and to engaging diverse partners in immigration policy advocacy.
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, and written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to synthesize information to persuasively and creatively communicate reputed company to influence diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated reputed company to build and maintain relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external partners and stakeholders is required.
  • Demonstrated reputed company to set priorities; work on multiple detail-oriented tasks, often on a time-sensitive basis; and work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
  • Experience leading, managing, supervising, or mentoring colleagues is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree and seven years (senior policy analyst) of relevant work experience or a master’s degree or other advanced degree with five years of reputed company experience.
  • Candidates must be based in Washington, D.C.

  • Campaign and coalition building experience, in particular experience with state-based advocacy campaigns reputed company a broader national campaign is preferred but not required.
