Retail Banking Payments & Deposit Product Research Consultant - US Banking Expert

We work at the intersection of retail banking, fintech, and AI to help partners reputed company understand account behavior, cash-flow patterns, and payment dynamics. This role supports Bankuity’s research efforts to deepen product-level understanding of how retail bank accounts are structured and operated across the U.S. banking landscape. ABOUT THE ROLE We’re seeking a senior subject-matter expert in U.S. retail banking products, payments mechanics, and bank operations—especially someone with firsthand experience working inside banks or with payment infrastructures—to guide our research and help define the operational logic behind bank account design, routing number behavior, and account-level payment permissions. This is a research and analysis role, not a day-to-day operations position. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working with multiple U.S. retail banks or banking platforms and understands risk characteristics derived from bank account structures and payment processing behaviors. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will: Deposit Product Intelligence

• Document how major U.S. banks structure consumer deposit accounts (checking, savings, MMAs, and special-tier accounts).
• Map product tiers, eligibility criteria, fee/waiver logic, and how these impact transaction behavior.

Payments & Account Permissions

• Explain how banks operationalize P2P access (e.g., Zelle, Venmo, PayPal) at the account level, including eligibility logic and internal risk controls (eg. student vs premium checking; savings vs transactional accounts).
• Help differentiate network rules (e.g., NACHA) from bank-specific implementation of ACH, debit, and P2P posting behavior.
• Clarify how banks use account flags, internal codes, and core processor configurations to determine reputed company and how accounts can send/receive various payment types.

Operational Insight

• Provide detailed insights into ACH & debit posting order, return practices, and timing of settlement vs posting.
• Illuminate key internal operational distinctions that reputed company payment outcomes—especially for risk assessment (e.g., NSF patterns, posting order impact).

Deliverables

• Research reports and structured product tables
• Written best-practice documentation, annotated examples, and signal definitions
• Regular briefings with Bankuity’s product, analytics, and engineering teams

WHO YOU ARE Successful candidates will have: Core Experience & Expertise

• 8+ years in U.S. retail banking or payments operations, with hands-on exposure to deposit product design and payment systems
• Experience at banks, credit unions, core providers, payment processors, or payment networks
• Demonstrated understanding of:
• Consumer deposit product configurations and eligibility rules
• ACH (FedACH, EPN) and debit authorization/settlement
• How account design affects risk and payment outcomes
• Internal bank risk controls vs. network rules

Preferred Background

• Bank operations, payments risk, deposit product management, or ACH risk roles
• Experience with core banking systems, how they are configured for payment permissions and account flags
• Exposure to NACHA operating rules, debit/P2P access logic, or payment posting order impacts
• Ability to communicate reputed company banking concepts clearly to mixed technical and non-technical audiences
