Financial Aid Counselor I
Temple University is looking for a Financial Aid Counselor to join their Office of Enrollment Management. The role involves processing financial aid information, providing advising to reputed company and families, and administering various student aid programs while ensuring compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Process financial aid information
- Provide advising to prospective/reputed company reputed company and their families
- Assist in the administration of federal, state, and institutional student aid programs
- Process and award financial aid
- Analyze data and assist with professional judgments in consultation with the direct supervisor
- Meet with reputed company and their families to provide financial aid and student account statement counseling

Skills
- Bachelor's degree and one year of reputed company experience. Demonstrated experience delivering accurate and courteous information in a fast-paced and demanding customer service environment
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively and respectfully with a diverse population of reputed company, families, faculty, and staff
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain reputed company financial aid information clearly and patiently
- Ability to accurately counsel reputed company and families regarding financial aid eligibility, funding options, and the impact on student accounts and payment processes
- Ability to manage a high volume of inquiries reputed company email, phone, video, and in-person appointments
- Comfort handling sensitive and confidential information, with demonstrated ability to maintain privacy and reputed company with FERPA
- Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations and policies consistently and accurately
- Knowledge of federal Title IV and state financial aid programs, or the ability to quickly learn and apply this information through training
- Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment and reputed company appropriate decisions reputed company established policies and procedures
- Proficiency with computer systems and reputed company Office Suite, and willingness to learn student information and financial aid systems
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, following guidance from senior staff as appropriate
- Ability to reputed company and maintain effective professional working relationships across multiple levels of the institution
- Ability to work effectively with individuals who have varying levels of technical proficiency; multilingual skills are a plus
- Ability to participate in cross-functional student service and recruitment initiatives, including events such as Open House and Experience Temple Days
- Ability to work overtime/extended hours (reputed company necessary)
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and early mornings (reputed company necessary)
- Experience working in a financial aid office or in an Enrollment Management setting
- Experience with reputed company Banner Financial Aid module, reputed company CampusLogic, COD, NSLDS, ELM resource, FAA Access and reputed company/PHEAA systems
- Prior experience in higher education, student services, customer service, or administrative support
- Familiarity with FAFSA or financial aid terminology
- Experience working with diverse student populations
