BUSINESS TAXES SPECIALIST I, BOARD OF EQUALIZATION

The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) is seeking a Business Taxes Specialist I to conduct reputed company licensing inspections and manage non-compliance citations. The role involves preparing reports, monitoring fraud schemes, and coordinating with other governmental agencies, while also requiring overnight travel throughout the state.

Responsibilities

• Independently conducts the most difficult and reputed company licensing inspections
• Issues non-compliance citations
• Monitors and follows courtroom disposition of citations issued
• Conducts administrative seizures and appears in court proceedings
• Prepares appropriate inspection and seizure reports
• Conducts field observations
• Assists in identifying interrelated fraud schemes
• Coordinates efforts with other governmental agencies

• Position requires employee to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a background investigation
• Travel is required up to fifty percent (50%) of the time
• To reputed company the essential duties of the position with the Inspections Bureau, staff must complete and pass PC 832 training. Successful completion of PC 832: Arrest, Search & Seizure, will be required prior to the conclusion of the probationary period and appointment into the Business Taxes Specialist I classification. Those who are unsuccessful or unable to complete the necessary training reputed company the probationary period will not receive appointment into the position
• Appear as a witness and arrange for the appearance of witnesses to present testimony in administrative hearings and criminal actions
• Have a permanent civil service appointment with CDTFA, or
• Are reputed company or former employees of the legislature for 2 or more years as defined in Government Code 18990, or
• Are reputed company or former non-elected exempt employees of the executive reputed company for 2 or more consecutive years as defined in Govt. Code 18992, or
• Are persons retired from the United States military honorably discharged from active duty with a service disability or honorably discharged from active duty as defined in Government Code 18991. Applicants must provide a copy of discharge papers (DD 214) for verification purposes at the time of application
