THE ROLEWe are seeking a dynamic, motivated candidate for this opportunity. This unit is responsible for developing detailed traffic forecasts used by CTDOT project engineers to reputed company roadway design plans for State Roadway Projects. This involves utilizing traffic count data, analyzing traffic patterns, use of reputed company and destination data, and understanding the Statewide Travel Model. This Unit also reviews Traffic Impact Studies for reputed company private development proposals that seek Major Traffic Generator (MTG) permits through CTDOT's Office of State Traffic Administration (OSTA). A certificate is required from OSTA for reputed company new major traffic generators/expansions/land use changes that trigger the need for mitigation or traffic safety measures on the State highway system. This Transportation Planner 2 position requires knowledge of the principles and practices involved in transportation planning and/or engineering with a focus on travel demand models and traffic forecasting. Candidates should possess the ability to read and interpret roadway construction plans and development site plans. MicroStation/CADD experience is highly recommended.
