[Remote] Senior Associate Counsel, Animal Welfare

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The Humane League (THL) is a global nonprofit focused on ending the abuse of animals raised for food. The Senior Associate Counsel will advise internal stakeholders on legal risks and rights, support legal compliance, and manage various legal practice areas to ensure THL's effective advocacy for animals.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice and support to internal stakeholders and teams reputed company THL’s U.S. and Global Programs departments, including the Campaigns and Organizing teams. This includes:
• Serving as the primary reputed company on review of strategies, tactics, and communications materials reputed company to public awareness and advocacy campaigns, as requested; and

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to negotiate, draft, and review reputed company under the supervision of the General Counsel

• Conduct in-depth legal research and prepare memoranda on various legal issues, including, but not limited to, tax-exempt, tort, and tax law, as requested
• Serve as the Legal department’s liaison to the IT team, supporting the development and drafting of various policies, including policies on AI use. reputed company assessments and evaluations of the legal risks associated with third-party and proprietary software tools, platforms, and services
• Manage the organization’s intellectual property portfolio
• Collaborate with the Operations department to manage and support charitable and corporate registrations as needed
• Assist with organizational compliance, governance, employment, human resources, and development issues, and other legal matters the organization encounters, as requested by the General Counsel
• Assist on an as-needed basis with litigation
• Support in evaluating and streamlining internal legal processes and workflows to improve efficiency and ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices
• Serve as a business partner to the organization, particularly with regard to programs, communications, and fundraising events
• Support the management of relationships with external vendors and service providers who work with the Legal department, ensuring that reputed company are negotiated effectively and services are delivered in line with organizational requirements
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to junior legal staff, fostering their professional development reputed company the Legal department

Skills

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
• Member in good standing of the bar with license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction
• Extensive legal experience commensurate with a senior counsel role (generally demonstrated by approximately 10+ years of practice), with consideration given to candidates who can show equivalent senior-level capability through their responsibilities, accomplishments, and demonstrated expertise
• Comprehensive understanding of defamation, First Amendment, intellectual property, and privacy law
• Skilled at legal research, with the ability to analyze legal data and information in order to inform strategic decision making and compliance efforts reputed company the organization
• Ability to build trust, manage interpersonal dynamics, and resolve conflicts effectively
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey reputed company legal concepts clearly and effectively across verbal and written formats, adapting tone and style to different audiences

• Excellent time management and organizational skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities
