About the position Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Project / Senior Environmental Engineer, Geologist or Scientist in our Boise, Idaho office. The position will help grow our Mountain West Operations by leading and contributing to challenging environmental, water, and engineering projects, including mining, contaminated site assessment and remediation, financial and technical evaluations, design, permitting, and construction. Responsibilities

  • Task and project management, including planning and implementing projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Evaluate mining and contaminated sites and develop remediation approaches, including feasibility studies, removal action work plans, and remediation design plans.
  • Evaluate water and wastewater chemistry for data/trend analysis.
  • Lead the development of work plans, data evaluation, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Implement treatment study pilot tests and systems, including vendor selection, logistical coordination, permitting, and supervision of field teams.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
  • Foster trust-based relationships with clients, regulatory personnel, and other project stakeholders.
  • Assisting in the growth of business development efforts by obtaining repeat business from existing clients and winning new clients.
  • At times, job may also include fieldwork including multi-media environmental sampling and characterization, contractor/subcontractor oversight, and treatment system operations, maintenance, and construction.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental) or environmental science. (required)
  • At least 7 years (8+ years preferred) direct environmental consulting experience in the Western United States; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Detailed understanding of state and federal regulations. (required)
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Field work and overnight travel (required).
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in geology, engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental) or environmental science. (preferred)
  • Professional registration. (i.e., P.G. or P.E.) (preferred)
  • Proven experience in client development and management, as well as demonstrated leadership skills. (preferred)
  • Experience with mining, industrial, manufacturing, oil and gas, or food and beverage projects. (preferred)
  • Experience working on Federal projects. (preferred)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
