Network Architect (VMware Cloud Foundation / NSX) — Part-Time Contract | Remote

Part-Time Contract | Remote | $80–$120/hr depending on experience [Immediate Hire – Urgent Need] Start Date: December 20, 2025 End Date: February 12, 2026 Weekly Commitment: Approximately 16–20 hours per week (120 hours total) AxelCore is urgently seeking a highly experienced Network Architect with deep VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and NSX expertise. This is a fast-turnaround engagement supporting a financial services client with complex network architecture requirements. The consultant selected for this role will lead the design and documentation of NSX networking within a VCF environment and ensure tight integration with physical network infrastructure. This project has a fixed timeline; however, strong performers may be considered for future consulting roles with AxelCore. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering the full network design for a VCF deployment, including:

• NSX Design for VMware Cloud Foundation, covering segmentation, routing, and security.
• Designing and documenting NSX Edge Nodes, including routing, availability, and integration patterns.
• Developing the Routing architecture for VCF, including Tier-0/Tier-1 designs and upstream connectivity.
• Creating a comprehensive Network Design Flow Diagram to guide implementation.
• Producing a full VMware Cloud Foundation Network Overview with all logical and physical components defined.
• Defining Network allocation for VI Workload Domains, including multiple domain topologies.
• Supporting vSphere Distributed Switch (vDS) design, including uplink configuration and mapping.
• Leading Physical Network Design for NSX, ensuring seamless integration between virtual and physical networking layers.
• Documenting and refining the Network Topology, including dependencies and traffic flows.
• Designing Top of Rack (ToR) connectivity, uplink strategies, and performance considerations.
• Validating Connectivity and Network Settings required for compute, management, and edge clusters.
• Building out VLAN and Subnet architectures aligned with VCF requirements.
• Defining Access Port Network Settings, uplink mapping, and switch configurations.
• Ensuring correct configuration and validation of Jumbo Frames across all required paths.
• Collaborating with engineering teams and leadership to align on design decisions and confirm readiness.
• Communicating architectural concepts in a clear, digestible manner for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is an experienced Network Architect who has worked in financial services or similarly regulated environments and can quickly step into a high-stakes engagement with minimal onboarding. We are seeking someone who is:

• Highly skilled in VMware Cloud Foundation and NSX architecture, with a track record of delivering complex network designs.
• Credentialed whenever possible. VMware certifications (VCP-NV, VCAP-NV, VCDX-NV) are highly preferred, but candidates with equivalent, demonstrable hands-on experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Punctual, reliable, and able to meet tight project timelines.
• Comfortable engaging directly with leadership and senior technical stakeholders.
• Proactive and action-oriented; able to identify gaps early, escalate issues appropriately, and drive solutions independently
• Collaborative and able to work seamlessly with both internal AxelCore teams and client engineering groups.
• Adaptable in communication style, capable of explaining technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and going deep with technical teams.
• Flexible and dependable, with availability for 16–20 hours per week throughout the project.
• Quick-thinking, resourceful, and able to operate effectively in environments where priorities may shift.
• Professional, polished, and aligned with expectations in financial services engagements.

• Routing for VCF (Tier-0/Tier-1, BGP, OSPF, ECMP)
• Network Design Flow Diagrams and architecture documentation
• VMware Cloud Foundation Network Overview creation
• Network allocation strategies for VI Workload Domains
• vSphere Distributed Switch (vDS) design and configuration
• Physical Network Design for NSX, including switch integration
• Network topology creation and validation
• Top of Rack (ToR) connectivity and uplink design
• Connectivity and network settings for VCF components
• VLAN and subnet architecture
• Access port and switch port settings
• Jumbo frame design and validation across virtual and physical networks

Strong documentation skills and the ability to present architectural decisions clearly are essential.
