Remote positions open to the US only. What You’ll Be Building At KnowBe4, we recognize that cybersecurity has always been a human problem. Our Human Risk Management platform uses intelligent, adaptive systems to help people and AI agents recognize and respond to threats, turning human behavior from the weakest link into the strongest defense. As a Software Engineer, you’ll help build and improve these systems alongside experienced engineers, designing, testing, and shipping features that put AI safely into production at global scale. What You’ll Do

• AI Development: Build and integrate AI-powered backend features that adapt and learn in production.
• APIs & Pipelines: Extend APIs and data workflows that connect models to real users.
• LLM Integration: Apply best practices in prompt design, orchestration, and RAG.
• Collaboration: Partner with senior engineers and product teams to deliver secure, scalable systems.
• Craftsmanship: Write clean, tested code and uphold best practices for reviews and deployment.
• Growth: Keep learning! Share ideas, explore new AI tools, and raise the bar for the team.

What You Bring You’re the kind of engineer who loves learning new technologies, takes pride in code quality, and wants to build and own high-quality production AI systems at scale.

• 3+ years of experience building backend or cloud-native software systems (preferably in AWS).
• Strong Python skills and experience with modern web/API frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask.
• Curiosity for AI/ML - you’ve explored LLMs, orchestration frameworks, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
• Commitment to quality - you write maintainable, tested code and thrive in collaborative reviews.

Bonus points if you have:

• Experience with data processing tools (PySpark, Pandas, or Polars).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (we use GitLab) and infrastructure-as-code (we use Terraform).
• A habit of turning new discoveries into reusable knowledge for the team.

The base pay for this position ranges from $120,000 - $145,000, which will vary depending on how well an applicant's skills and experience align with the job description listed above.
