Bloomberg Government is looking for a politically savvy and policy-obsessed reporter to cover the national influence of state governments and how the red-blue divide is playing out in state capitals. You’ll break news, spot new initiatives and tactics, and explain trends for our audience of policy and legal professionals. The ideal candidate will be able to write clearly and quickly and exercise strong news judgment. You should be well-sourced on both sides of the aisle and be able to understand and dissect the priorities of both parties across the country. What you will do: Report and write news articles and breaking news alerts, often on deadline. Cover news as it happens, live and in person, including at courthouses, state legislatures, and other strategic locations reputed company your assigned region. Pitch, reputed company and write analytical pieces and feature stories on complicated subjects like tax and legal developments, making them accessible to readers Demonstrate knowledge of federal and state legislative, regulatory, and judicial processes. Establish strategic relationships with sources, editors, news desk, etc. Serve as a resource for other correspondents and Washington based reporters. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned. You need to have: Bachelor’s degree with coursework in English or journalism preferred. 8-12 years’ experience in journalism, including at least one year reporting on subject areas covered by assigned publications. Demonstrated knowledge of journalism principles and techniques. Knowledge of federal and state legislative, regulatory, and judicial processes. The ability to cover events live as they happen and meet with sources in-person reputed company the location being covered.
