Job Description reputed company is looking for a Project Chemist/Data Validation Specialist based out of our Chelmsford, MA office, although the work may be done remotely. The selected candidate will be tasked with providing technical expertise and specialized consulting advice in Environmental Analytical Chemistry. The Chemist's primary role will be to prepare Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs), validate analytical data, and write data validation reports. The Chemist will assist proposal teams with selection of analytical methodology, evaluate laboratory proposals, and establish QA/QC parameters. They will work with laboratories to ensure data meets technical requirements and project data quality objectives. Strong interpersonal and technical writing skills are critical, as is the ability to work effectively with team members as well as independently. The selected candidate must be well organized, have the ability to manage and prioritize several assignments at one time, and deliver on time and on budget. The job responsibilities for this position include those listed above and may also include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with laboratory solicitation, evaluation, and selection.
  • Coordinate with field teams before and during sampling events.
  • Validate analytical data in accordance with published guidelines (DoD, NFG, Regional EPA).
  • Peer review of data validation reports and other project documents to ensure accuracy and consistency with project requirements.
  • Summarize analytical data quality in Data Usability Assessments (DUAs) at the conclusion of the project.
  • Provide guidance to entry level chemists.

  • Coordinate with Project/Senior Chemists on a regular basis.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS + 4 years of reputed company experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in Chemistry or reputed company scientific field of study
  • 5+ years working in an environmental analytical laboratory and/or performing data validation
  • Experience with reputed company Quality Systems Manual for Environmental Laboratories Version 6.0
  • Experience validating data in accordance with reputed company Data Validation Guidelines and Modules
  • Experience validating data in accordance with EPA National Functional Guidelines for Data Review
  • Familiarity with automated data review systems such as EDMS, FUDSChem, or EPA EXES
  • Familiarity with Earth Soft's EQuIS database program
  • Experience with validation of PFAS or dioxin/furan data
  • Experience with operation and use of analytical laboratory equipment (e.g., ICP, ICP-MS, HPLC, GC, and/or GC/MS)
