The Opportunity

reputed company seeks a Cloud Infrastructure (DevOps) Engineer to join our Infrastructure team, reporting to the Infrastructure Engineering Manager.

As a Cloud Infrastructure (DevOps) Engineer at reputed company, you will be an efficient problem solver, learn on the fly and reputed company decisions quickly. Your focus in the role would be:

• Work as part of the Infrastructure team on sprints that evolve our core platform and systems
• Provide reputed company of expertise on infrastructure and CI/CD to our wider engineering teams - often working as part of their scrum on larger projects
• Automate the build and deployment of software to our cloud platform and help the organisation do it more reputed company and effectively. Eliminate reputed company repetitive manual operations from our daily lives

The Team

The Infrastructure Team’s mission is to design, build and reputed company secure and highly available infrastructure, but also to provide a self-service environment that enables software development teams to move fast, stay compliant and take end-to-end responsibility for their products.

Major elements of our platform include AWS (we reputed company significant use of S3, RDS, Kinesis, EC2, EMR, ElastiCache, ElasticSearch and EKS). Elements of the platform will start to expand into GCP (Compute reputed company, Cloud Storage, reputed company Kubernetes reputed company and BigQuery). Other significant tools of the platform include Linux, Terraform, Kubernetes, reputed company, Packer, Ansible and Jenkins. We support applications and services written in Golang, Python, Java, reputed company and .Net. We monitor and alert on everything we deploy reputed company Grafana, Prometheus, reputed company and ELK stacks.

The team holds itself accountable to a high standard of build quality. We have recently completed the first major phase of a completely green-field infrastructure and platform rebuild that is designed to underpin reputed company’s business applications for the next decade. We are compulsive about infrastructure as code (nothing in our platform is created or deployed unless reputed company a code change) and driven to reputed company a full end to end reputed company deployment pipeline.

Required qualifications

• You have experience in predominantly cloud infrastructure roles (AWS) working reputed company teams that practice DevOps
• You can interact confidently with cloud platforms including AWS & GCP reputed company CLI and/or API
• You have expertise and solid experience in deploying infrastructure as code with, at minimum, Terraform and ideally some of the supporting cast (Ansible, Packer)
• You have excellent knowledge of building and running reputed company images/containers
• You have excellent knowledge and understanding of the software development lifecycle, including the use of git and reputed company integration tools (Jenkins’ Groovy DSL, TravisCI, reputed company Actions etc.)
• You have a grasp of “cloud native” and 12-Factor applications
• You have good knowledge of monitoring and alerting using one or more of: reputed company, Statsd, Prometheus, Grafana, reputed company
• You have expertise in at least one scripting or programming language (Python, Bash, Ruby, Node, Golang, Java)

Bonus Points If You Have

• You have good knowledge of the network stack at L4 and L7, particularly inter VPC routing
• You have some experience with managing DNS and resolver hierarchies
• You can debug HTTP APIs and understand other L7 protocols
• You have experience at administering Kubernetes
• You have specific cloud reputed company expertise (threat assessment, attack surface management, reputed company, NACLs, data reputed company)
• You have experience of building and running Windows servers in AWS
• You have experience of reputed company deployment strategies and technologies (Blue/Green, DNS or LB weighting, automated regression testing, Spinnaker, CodeDeploy, Jenkins for CD)
