Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Medical Billing Clerk/Data Entry Specialist to join our team on a 5-month contract-to-hire basis. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for accurate and efficient data entry, medical billing, and claims processing. Your expertise in medical software and electronic health record systems will be invaluable in ensuring the smooth operation of our claims processing workflow.

Responsibilities

As a Medical Billing Clerk/Data Entry Specialist, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Accurate and efficient data entry of patient information into our computer system
  • Entry-level billing of claims, including verification of patient information and checking payer portals for claims status
  • Resubmitting of claims as necessary
  • Following HIPAA guidelines for the provision of medical records to primary care providers, insurance carriers, referred providers, and patients
  • Team-oriented tasks, including assisting coworkers when needed, reaching team goals, meeting deadlines, and being an overall team player
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of patient information and claims processing

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • At least 1 year of experience in medical billing and data entry
  • Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Knowledge of insurance claim submission processes and familiarity with various payer guidelines
  • Experience working with Medicaid is highly desirable
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Great references from past employers and strong tenure
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Schedule and Work Environment

As a remote employee, you'll have the flexibility to work from the comfort of your own home. Our team is available to support you through regular virtual meetings and online collaboration tools. The schedule for this role is Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm CST, with additional flexibility once you've completed your training.
